The New Forest in Southern England is a magical place of ancient beauty. It had a massive influence on me as a child, and still does as an adult. As a keen young climber and wildlife photographer I became obsessed with exploring the forest canopy. Those formative years defined my future choice of career as a wildlife cameraman. They also taught me rope skills, persistence and how to be patient.
In 1997 I was given my first full-time job on a Hollywood production in Morocco. I was then invited back to England to work at Shepperton Studios but was missing nature too much so headed to Bristol to enter the world of natural history film-making.
I got my first proper break with the BBC in 1998 when they sent me to film in the rainforest canopy of Borneo. Since then I’ve been lucky to film in dozens of different countries and to spend long periods working in remote wilderness locatiosn. I’ve been honoured to provide camerawork for many high profile productions along the way and had the pleasure of working alongside hundreds of inspirational people, not least Sir David Attenborough and HRH Prince William.
